About this site & the verification method
Dog beach information online is dominated by stale blog lists — rules quoted from other blogs, years out of date, that end with a fine on the sand. Dog Beach Index does one thing differently: every rule is verified against the official source — the city ordinance, parks department page, or state park policy — and that source is linked and dated on every listing.
Current coverage: 38 beaches across 7 states, including 19 with genuine off-leash options and 4 verified bans (worth knowing before you drive). Coverage grows state by state as rules are verified — we'd rather be small and right than complete and wrong.
