Dog beach information online is dominated by stale blog lists — rules quoted from other blogs, years out of date, that end with a fine on the sand. Dog Beach Index does one thing differently: every rule is verified against the official source — the city ordinance, parks department page, or state park policy — and that source is linked and dated on every listing.

Current coverage: 38 beaches across 7 states, including 19 with genuine off-leash options and 4 verified bans (worth knowing before you drive). Coverage grows state by state as rules are verified — we'd rather be small and right than complete and wrong.

Accuracy, corrections & removals

Ordinances change between checks; posted signage and current local law always take precedence. Corrections and removal requests are actioned within 7 days via the corrections page.

How the site is funded

Free to use. Revenue, when present, comes from clearly-labelled advertising, affiliate links and sponsored placements — none of which changes a rule, a listing, or an ordering. Details on the disclosure page.
